Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 2/3

The Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is a practical and engaging study programme designed to motivate and support learners to gain key knowledge and skills required by vehicle maintenance employers, specialising in Light Vehicles. With mandatory requirement for employer engagement, learners get the opportunity to experience the real workplace environment. Practical skills and knowledge are delivered by demonstration and practical assignments in the workshop. Theoretical knowledge is delivered by classroom tuition, guided assignments, Information Learning Technology (ILT), and personal study.

The Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 2 has been designed to enhance the students’ vehicle service and repair skills, knowledge and understanding to level 2. This Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) is ideal for school and college learners aged 16-19, as well as 19+ learners wishing to enter into the Vehicle Maintenance sector of the Automotive Industry. Learners with a keen interest in vehicle maintenance will have the opportunity to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills. This programme will provide continued theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by potential vehicle technicians. Students successfully completing all units of study will have mastered the intermediate mechanical skills needed for work on various vehicle systems and have an understanding of the related technology.

The Level 3 programme has been designed for learners wishing to progress further into the Vehicle Maintenance sector of the Automotive Industry. Learners will gain the specialist skills and knowledge required to kick start their technical career. The course will provide a continuation of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by potential vehicle technicians that were gained at Level 2.

In addition to your main study programme you will also engage in activities to develop your English, Maths and employability skills.
