New student accommodation offering excellent facilities and comfort. Rooms are allocated alongside Essex University students where you will have the chance to exchange experiences and mix with the students from all other courses. The village is situated approximately 3 miles from the Colchester Institute.

Rooms are furnished with ¾ beds with storage underneath (however the 1 bed flat and double studios offer double beds), desk and a desk chair, plenty of drawer space and a wardrobe with additional storage space on top. All rooms have a modern en-suite. Bike storage is available and there is parking on-site for £5 per week.

The cluster kitchens include a modern fitted kitchen complete with a combi-oven, microwave, hob and fridge-freezer. The studio rooms and 1 bed flat have their own personal kitchen including a micro-oven, fridge with freezer compartment and a 2 ring hob.

All bills are included, high speed broadband and Wi-Fi facilities will be provided in all rooms and communal areas.

Avon Way consists of eight residential houses, arranged into flats all of which are managed by an independent company Mansion Student. The site is set in its own grounds, with views of the nearby countryside. The flats accommodate between two and six students and have shared fitted kitchens and shared bathrooms. An internet connection is included in the price.

Prices start from £91.00 per week, plus utility fee of £195.00 (per year) and a returnable deposit of £250.00. Tenancy agreements cover 48 weeks and start from September. Avon Way accommodation is situated approximately 3 miles from the college campus.

The Forest Road House complex provides purpose built Student Accommodation for students. Located to the East of Colchester town centre it is approximately 1 mile from the Essex University campus and about 3 miles from the Colchester Institute.

Forest Road House was built by the University of Essex but now it is a privately managed residence.The accommodation comprises of 124 rooms within 2 blocks of 3 storey flats. 2 Single rooms and 2 Double rooms within each block have an en-suite facility. The complex provides a friendly and secure environment to live.

The rent will be charged at £340.00-£480.00 per calendar month depending on room type, payable one term in advance on 11 months contract. The frequent communal area cleaning and Wi-Fi is included in the price. There is no deposit but an administration fee of £120.00 is payable at the start of the tenancy.

Rooms in student house shares available from accredited private sector.

A variety of houses situated within 0.5 – 3 miles from the college. A deposit of one month’s rent is required and the signing of a tenancy agreement.

Prices vary from £250 to £350 per month and available both with bills included and bills excluded options.


Home Stay: Self – Catering Accommodation

We have a number of landlords who rent out rooms within their own properties. You will have you own bedroom with full use of the kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities. Rent is normally between £70 – £95 per week inclusive of bills. A deposit of two weeks rent is normally required in advance.

Home Stay: Half Board Accommodation

In addition you may choose to include meals with your accommodation. Breakfast and an evening meal will be provide during the week with three meals at the weekend. Laundry is usually included with prices starting from £125 per week. A deposit of two weeks rent is normally required in advance. This option may be particularly helpful to International students as it gives the opportunity to practice speaking English with the host family.

We are always keen to recruit caring homestay providers within close proximity to our Colchester campus. Students stay from a few weeks up to a year or more. You should be able to offer a student a comfortable room with adequate lighting and heating, storage, a wardrobe, table and chair. Wi-Fi access is preferable.

We are seeking landlords who can offer either self-catering or half board accommodation (breakfast and a full evening meal with three meals a day at weekends).

Many of our students who choose to live with a private landlord are from overseas and are keen to live with a family to improve their language skills. We also support the Erasmus Exchange program that is popular among European students. We also have a number of students who prefer a quiet, home like atmosphere.
