Applying for a Full-Time course

Before submitting your application, make sure you have got an email address which you will check frequently and which is professional and appropriate for this purpose. Submit the application as early as possible and remember to save a copy for your own records.

If you don’t have access to a computer or the internet, please phone our Admissions enquiry line on the 01206 712777 and we will send you a paper application form. The completed form can be returned by post or in person to our admissions teams at our Colchester, Braintree or Clacton campuses.

We start accepting applications from the 1st October 2017 and have set an initial deadline for receiving applications of 31st January 2018 for a guaranteed place on your chosen programme (subject to you satisfying the entry requirements), although we do still accept applications after this date.

Applicants will receive an acknowledgement within one week of the application being received by our Admissions team, if you do not receive this you should contact the team on 01206 712777 to check that your application has been received.

Applying for an Access course

If you’re in doubt about going straight into a degree-level course why not ask about our Access courses which will help build up your self confidence, study skills and reading and writing skills ready for higher level learning.

Apply for an Apprenticeship Vacancy

We have apprenticeship vacancies available in a variety of industries including:

Dental Nursing, Engineering, Maintenance Operations, Childcare, Creative and Digital Media, Business and Administration, IT, and Health and Social Care.

To apply for a vacancy:

  1. Sign in or create an account.
  2. Upload your CV and personal information
  3. Submit your application

Become a part of our talent pool

If you have been unable to find a vacancy suitable to you, we encourage you to send in a copy of your updated CV to so we can match you up with an employer. Please be aware that this will not be a one-to-one service and you are likely to be up against other applicants in the short listing and interviewing process.

Still haven’t found the vacancy for you? Don’t panic!

There is another way to become an apprentice through Colchester Institute and we’re here to assist you every step of the way. In order to enrol onto an apprenticeship scheme you must find an employer willing to appoint you as an apprentice in your chosen field.

This can be done in a number of ways:

1) Using the ‘Recruit an Apprentice’ website

Visit and search ‘Find an Apprenticeship’. You can search by job role, occupation type and location

2) Contacting employers direct

Take some time to compose a covering letter and create a CV to send to companies in your local area (except those advertising apprenticeship vacancies on the website – these have to be applied for via the ‘Find an Apprentice’ service).

You can apply for an apprenticeship through our online application system or by using the application form below, ensuring you complete section 4 of the form. In order to start your apprenticeship you must have an employer ready to complete your apprenticeship with.

UCC | Applications

The UCC Admissions team is available on (01206) 712000 to help you make an application or discuss entry or course requirements. Please view our Registration Guide for information about what your next steps are once you have been offered a place on one of our courses.

Applying for a full-time course starting in 2018

UCAS will receive applications for entry in 2018 from 1st September 2017. You are advised to apply as soon as possible and preferably before the first UCAS deadline of 15th January 2018. University Centre Colchester will usually consider late applications received after the appropriate deadline and through Clearing if places remain available. All applications to UCAS are made online at

The UCAS code for University Centre Colchester is CINST C75.

Full-time undergraduate course applications: via UCAS

September 2018 Start

Students wishing to study a full-time undergraduate course should apply online to UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) at The UCAS code for each course is shown on each course information page.

Apply through UCAS

If you wish to study an undergraduate course part-time you should apply directly to us and quote the corresponding course code.

Part-time and Postgraduate Study – Direct Applications

You will need to apply directly to University Centre Colchester using one of our own application forms only if:
(a) you wish to study part-time (undergraduate or postgraduate)
– or –
(b) you are applying for full-time postgraduate study
– or –
(c) you are currently undertaking a full-time degree at University Centre Colchester and wish to transfer internally to another degree.

Applications for part time undergraduate and postgraduate study are made directly to University Centre Colchester on a UCC application form for either pathway. The forms can be downloaded here:

UCAS Application Fee

The UCAS application fee for 2018 entry was £24 for a multiple application and £13 for a single application. To find out more please visit the UCAS website for more information.

Deferred entry

University Centre Colchester accepts applications for students looking to defer entry until September 2019 for most courses. Any student applying for deferred entry would be required to meet the conditions of their offer by 31st August 2018.


Employed Applicants

If you are to be sponsored by your employer to study on a course with a UCAS code, you must apply through UCAS.

Applicants from Outside the United Kingdom

Overseas applicants can apply online using UCAS Apply via the UCAS website If you do not have access to the Internet, please contact the UCAS Customer Relations Team on +44 (0)870 1122211.

Applying as a Full-Time International Student (EU & Overseas)

Applications for Higher Education courses from International Students must also be made via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Applications can be made on-line from any country via the UCAS website at Details of all eligible courses are given at this site, Colchester Institute’s UCAS reference number is CINST C75.

International Applications made via UCAS will be forwarded to us for processing but the offer and acceptance procedure is made through UCAS and not directly with us. Once we are notified of your acceptance we will request payment of your deposit for more information on fees and deposits click here.

Applying as an Part-Time International Student (EU only)

Students coming into the UK on a Tier 4 (General) student visa will only be eligible to apply for full-time courses at a minimum NQF level 3 or above or full-time English Language Programmes.

Colchester Institute’s International Student Application Form is available to download. Before completing the application form you must read and understand the information about our Fee Payment and Refund Policy. On signing the application form you are agreeing to the terms of this policy.

With your application form you must also send:

  • Certified copies of your academic qualifications
  • Where appropriate, evidence of your English Language ability (IELTS or equivalent)
  • A reference to confirm your status and suitability for the course.
  • An email or correspondence address where we can keep in touch with you about your application

We currently offer English Language courses on either a full-time or part-time basis depending on what suits you, your schedule and your needs.
