Course Content

The programme will provide the basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills required by potential vehicle technicians. Students successfully completing all units of study will have mastered the basic repair skills needed for work on various vehicle systems and possess an understanding of the related technology. Assessment is based on external examinations with internal assessment of practical ability.

Practical skills and knowledge are delivered by demonstration and practical assignments in the workshop. Theoretical knowledge is delivered by classroom tuition, guided assignments, ILT, and personal study. In addition to your main study programme you will also engage in activities to develop your English, Maths and employability skills.

The Vehicle Accident Repair and paint route allows learners to have the flexibility to develop their knowledge and skills across a variety of specialist areas, preparing them for further studies and to potentially enter into a job role they desire in the future.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSEs (9-1) including English and Maths (or Level 1 Functional Skills equivalent) and an interview.

Progression to Level 2 – Satisfactory completion of the Level 1 Qualification and via a progression interview.

Course Progression

After completing Level 1 & 2, you could progression to a Level 3 apprenticeship programme.

What Can I Do Next?

A career in the motor vehicle industry, generally at either craft or technician level. Upon achieving this qualification, learners can progress onto further training and education in automotive and engineering subjects including progression onto an Apprenticeship, or continued part-time vocational study to level 3.
