Easter Closure and return to study

The College will be closed from Saturday 4th April to Tuesday 14th April (inclusive), there will be no work set for classroom based courses over this normal 2 week holiday period, however we will be returning to remote working on Wednesday 15th April for staff to continue to prepare online learning and resources.

UCC students and Apprentices will return to their online remote learning on Monday 20th April.

Further Education students will return to online remote learning on Wednesday 22nd April. This delay is to allow teaching staff to prepare materials for the next few weeks of online learning on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st April.

Performing Arts Level 2

The one year Level 2 Performing Arts BTEC Extended Certificate is a fantastic introduction to a range of performing arts and employability skills – all while you improve you gain a valuable Level 2 qualification worth 4 GCSEs. It has been designed with both education and vocation in mind and as such will develop practical skills and understanding of the performing arts for your future career alongside enabling access to higher study.

This course is for those who wish to have a broad introduction to the performing arts. It is for students who are able to enjoy the discipline of group work as well as developing personal skills. Performing Arts students contribute to College life in a variety of ways and take part in high quality productions in all areas of theatre. You will take part in live performances and shows to enable you to determine which aspect of performing arts you wish to study at Level 3.

In addition to your main programme You will also engage in activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs (grades A*-E / 9-3) including English, or satisfactory results in a relevant Level 1 qualification (Merit/Distinction), and an interview/audition.

What Can I Do Next?

The entertainment industry is one of the country’s major employers and opportunities for work extend much further than simply performing. A career in the performing arts might focus on education work (teaching), arts administration or management (arts centres or theatre companies). Successful students could progress onto the Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (ActingDance, or Musical Theatre).
