This qualification is for supervising or junior managers and has been designed to support the development of their knowledge and competence in managing individuals and teams and developing skills, including working with others, managing oneself, and coordinating the work of others. Achievement of the qualification confirms competence in an occupational role to the standards required.

DIPLOMA
With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Management and Leadership (RQF) gives you all the key skills and competencies you’ll need to become an effective first line manager. The CMI Level 3 Management Diploma is a combined qualification that is made up of both knowledge and competence units. It replaces the Level 3 NVQ in Management.
This is a vocational qualification that has been developed with the help of employers and is based directly on the National Occupational Standards, which means learners are gaining the kind of skills that employers are looking for. The CMI Level 3 Diploma in Management (QCF) can be studied as a stand-alone qualification, or as part of the Level 3 Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Management (England), or the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Management (Wales).

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is normally via practical work-based assignments and supporting evidence generated in the workplace through carrying out every day activities. There will also be observations carried out in the work place by your assessor when these activities are being carried out.
Evidence can be uploaded to an e-portfolio system 24/7, this ensures you minimise time away from work and that you undertake work study which is relevant to your own organisation’s context.
What are the entry requirements?
Completion of a level 2 qualification in Team Leading, employment in a relevant job or have the opportunity to gather the required evidence in the workplace. This can be discussed post-application with the lecturer/assessor.
What can I do next?
On successful completion of a Level 3 qualification in First Line Management or Principles of Management and Leadership, a number of progression opportunities become available. It provides the opportunity for progression to other qualifications at higher levels, such as the CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership. (QCF):
