Management Training and Development

For 2019 we are offering a suite of Professional Management Training Courses to employers as part of a pick’n’mix style selection, where you can create your own training and development packages to develop the skills needed in your management team to help develop your business.

Each workshop is delivered by an experienced professional trainer and is focused on skills and developing the individual through reflective practice.

These modules can form part of pick’n’mix style selection of training and development, and are delivered in the classroom on scheduled dates throughout the year.

Employers can pick a selection of courses applicable to individual requirements, without any commitment to attending every one.

Management of Self

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to:

2. Understand time management techniques and tools
3. Know how to plan own personal development
4. Be able to use time management and prioritisation techniques
5. Be able to create a personal development plan

Project Management

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with:

  • Knowledge of how to set up, manage and review a project.
  • Skills to plan, manage and evaluate a project.

Knowledge:
1. Understand the requirements of project governance

3. Know how to manage a project
4. Know how to evaluate the success of a project

Skills:

Managing People

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with:

  • Knowledge of how to manage multiple and remote teams, improve team performance and recruit staff members.
  • Skills to manage team performance, talent and delegate work

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with

  • Knowledge of leadership styles, how to lead different teams, how to improve performance, the importance of organisational culture, and equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Skills to communicate organisational vision and goals facilitate high performance working and support team through change.

Operational Management

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with:

  • Knowledge of management models, continuous improvement, management systems, and change management, use of technology and data security.
  • Skills to implement an operational plan, manage change, demonstrate commercial awareness and create management reports.

1. Understand operational management approaches and models
2. Understand business development tools and approaches to continuous improvement
3. Know how to initiate and manage change
4. Understand the purpose of management reporting
5. Understand effective technology use and data security in organisations

Skills:
1. Be able to create and deliver operational plans

4. Be able to produce management reports based on the collation, analysis and interpretation of data

Communication

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with:

  • Knowledge of interpersonal skills and how to apply different forms and techniques of communication
  • Skills needed to effectively communicate in a range of situations in a number of different formats

Building Relationships

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relationship management, collaborative working and conflict management
  • Skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Knowledge:
1. Understand approaches to partner, customer and stakeholder relationship management
2. Know how to use collaborative working techniques
3. Know how to manage different levels of workplace conflict

Skills:
1. Be able to build trust with internal and external stakeholders

Finance

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with:

  • Knowledge of financial management, setting and maintaining budgets and financial forecasting
  • Skills needed to set, manage and review a budget

4. Be able to evaluate the use of a budget

Problem Solving and Decision Making

This unit is spread over two workshops.

This unit will provide learners with the knowledge and skills to solve problems and make decisions.

Knowledge:
1 Understand problem solving and decision making techniques
2 Be able to critically analyse and evaluate data to solve problems and make decisions.

Meet the Trainers

Jackie Clifford
With almost 30 years’ experience in HR and Learning and Development, Jackie’s enthusiasm for what she does is evident every time you meet her.

She has worked with organisations across the UK and internationally supporting hundreds of individuals to increase their effectiveness. Jackie focuses on working with current and aspiring managers.

Daniel Cocksedge
Daniel has helped to develop and grow training functions starting initially with Royal Collection Enterprises to most recently working at Call Connection Ltd.

It was here that he integrated both performance related and personal development learning through bespoke qualifications and assessment, as well as designing qualifications.

Alison Darrington
Alison has 20 years experience working within global group industries, retail management and training, to improve individual and team performance.

She is a qualified trainer, holds a PTLLS certificate and is accredited by TAP in Coaching, as well as a wealth of direct experience working to coach staff at all levels

Travel Directions

CI Business Solutions is conveniently located in the North of Colchester, within easy reach of the A12. It is situated on the Colchester Institute Campus, Sheepen Road, which runs off Colne Bank Avenue (The Avenue of Remembrance), and West Way.

By Rail

CI Business Solutions is a 10 minute walk away from Colchester’s North Station. This is on a direct line from London Liverpool Street (50 minutes), Norwich (one hour) and Ipswich (19 minutes). There is a taxi rank located outside the station.

By Car

If travelling on the A12 via Chelmsford in a northerly direction, take the A134 exit sign-posted for Colchester Central. At the roundabout take the second exit and at the next roundabout take the third exit onto Westway. At the next roundabout take the fourth exit onto Sheepen Road and CI Business Solutions is the first turning on the left past the retail park.

If travelling south from the Ipswich direction on the A12, take the A1232 exit, go straight over the next two roundabouts, down Ipswich Road to a further roundabout. Take the third exit onto Cowdray Avenue. Go through the traffic lights, over one more roundabout and then at the second roundabout take the first exit onto Westway and at the next roundabout take the fourth exit into Sheepen Road, as above.

By Bus

There is a frequent bus service which runs from North Station to near by Colchester Institute. For further information on local bus routes click here.

On Foot

Centrally located, Colchester Institute is a 10 minute walk away from the station and the town centre.

Car Parking

Limited on-site parking is available in the student car park. A permit system along with daily charges is applicable, but there is no guarantee of a parking space. There are several public car parks close to the College.
