Easter Closure and return to study

The College will be closed from Saturday 4th April to Tuesday 14th April (inclusive), there will be no work set for classroom based courses over this normal 2 week holiday period, however we will be returning to remote working on Wednesday 15th April for staff to continue to prepare online learning and resources.

UCC students and Apprentices will return to their online remote learning on Monday 20th April.

Further Education students will return to online remote learning on Wednesday 22nd April. This delay is to allow teaching staff to prepare materials for the next few weeks of online learning on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st April.

Business Level 3

The course provides a nationally recognised and vocationally specific qualification with which to enter employment or to progress to higher education such as a degree in business and/or management or an associated specialist field. The Business BTEC programme of study includes a variety of types of business activity such as accounting, administration, finance, human resource management and marketing. Students that apply for the 90 Credit Diploma/Extended Diploma will also have the opportunity to apply to join the Business Career Ready Academy which enables you to gain masterclasses through a programme of guru lectures, business mentoring and a six week internship.

This is part of a national programme – Career Ready UK – and provides exceptional benefits to enhance future employment opportunities.

What Will I Learn?

Students learn through completing assignments involving investigation and analysis.

The course is delivered through workshops, practical activities and lectures and is supported through individual and group tutorials. In addition to your main study programme you will also engage in activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.

You will study the 90 Credit Diploma in year one, followed by the Extended Diploma in year two.

The qualification is achieved through coursework alone. All units must be passed in order to successfully achieve the full qualification.

Entry Requirements

Normally a minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades A*- C/9-4) including English and Maths, or satisfactory results in a relevant level 2 qualification (Merit/Distinction), and an interview.

Career Opportunities

This course offers access to a wide range of careers in business, including junior or managerial roles in human resources, finance, insurance, operations, IT and customer service. Alternatively students may find work as a business advisor, project manager, general manager, investment administrator, bank manager, marketing assistant or public relations officer. Others may start their own businesses.

Course Progression

Students can progress to a range of higher education programmes and professional courses including accounting, law, marketing and personnel management.
