Receiving your exam results

Please choose a button below appropriate to the awarding body for your qualification.

If you don’t see your awarding body listed here, don’t worry – details with regards to all other awarding bodies/qualifications will follow shortly. Please visit this page regularly for new and updated information.

Please be aware that all student emails have been migrated to Office 365. This means you will now need to use the following web address to access your college email (https://outlook.office365.com/mail).

If you are looking to setup your college email on your mobile device, then you will now need to choose the “Office 365” account option rather than “Exchange” option and follow the steps given from there.  Please also be aware we are using multi-factor authentication to access college accounts, including emails, so if you haven’t already set this up you will need to do this to access your results.  Instructions on how to do this can be found using the link below:

If you are still experiencing difficulties, or require support accessing your account, for example if you have forgotten your password, please contact the ILT Service Desk who will be happy to assist:

Exam Result Appeals

Once you have received your results, if you believe an error has been made in determining your grade you can submit an appeal using the form below within 5 days of receiving your result to ensure we meet awarding body deadlines, please do not contact your tutor directly. Once received we will then review: –

  • If an administrative error has been made eg we submitted an incorrect grade or used an incorrect assessment mark when determining your grade.
  • Did not apply a procedure correctly, eg following our centre policy, internal quality assurance, did not take account of access arrangements or mitigating circumstances, such as illness.

Please make sure that you read the useful student guides produced by ofqual and JCQ via the links below, to better understand what you can and cannot query:

The Awarding Organisation UAL has also produced a useful ‘Results 2021’ guide specifically for students who are expecting a UAL qualification result this Summer:

Results 2021 information for UAL Awarding Body students

To make an enquiry about your result you will need to complete an Exam Result Query Form – 2021*.  This will give your written consent to conduct the appeal or submit it to the Exam Awarding Body on your behalf. It’s important to remember that your grade can go down, up or stay the same through either stage of the process.

Please note that this must be completed within five days of receiving your results to ensure that we meet any deadlines set by the Exam Awarding Organisation.

Priority will be given to appeals for students applying to higher education who did not attain their Firm choice and wish to appeal the Level 3 qualification.

*when you click on the Exam Result Query Form link above, you may be asked to sign in using your college email address and college password.

Exam Certificate Distribution

After the majority of results have been received during the Summer, it is our aim to collate all certificates that we hold for individual students and then either send via the post or to invite students on to Campus to collect.

Please ensure you have notified us if you have changed your address since finishing your course. If you need to advise us of a change please email examsofficecolchester@colchester.ac.uk asap.

Please keep checking your emails over the next few weeks as we will communicate the process to you if collection is required. This page is also regularly updated and holds the most current Certificate collection information.

Important information:

As part of college policy, if you are enrolled to attend GCSE English Language and/or Mathematics as part of your timetable for 2021/22 and enter yourself to take the exam in November 2021 you will still be expected to attend your timetabled GCSE classes until the results day in January 2022. If on the January results day you achieve grade 9-4 you will be removed from the GCSE timetable. If you do not achieve grade 9-4 you will continue to attend your GCSE classes and will be entered for the Summer term 2022 examinations free of charge.

How do I enter the November resit?

All learners enrolled on GCSE English and / or Maths who have not requested a November resit will be entered for the exams in the Summer Term 2022.
