Engineering and Manufacturing Courses (Mechanical, Electronic, Maintenance, Fabrication and Welding)

If you enjoy using technology and solving problems…

Our Engineering courses in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, Welding and Fabrication are delivered by tutors with extensive experience in the industry sector and their professional expertise is valued by our students.

The knowledge and skills learned on our engineering courses can be used in many related industries. Examples include civil engineering, engineering construction, agricultural engineering, power, shipbuilding and repair, renewable energy, and oil and gas.

Engineers work in a range of industries including construction and engineering, transport, aerospace, and offshore oil and gas. They also carry out repairs on manufacturing equipment and machinery. Welders work with a lot of different metals, alloys and materials – heating, melting and joining these ‘composites’ together. You may also have the opportunity to work abroad on overseas construction projects.

As well as Further education programmes, Apprenticeships at a range of levels are also available in areas such as manufacturing, electrical and electronics, mechanical and electrical engineering maintenance and installations. Apprenticeships are an optimal way of training, developing and skilling people for the future.

KyranLevel 2 Mechanical and Electrical MaintenanceThe induction days were a massive help because it showed me
what I’d be doing. It gave me confidence on what I wanted to
do and what to expect for the upcoming year. The facilities are
very good, open for the students and available for me to use.
JessLevel 3 Manufacturing Engineering ApprenticeshipColchester Institute had the most suitable course for me to
study alongside my apprenticeship. The staff are friendly
and the college has great facilities. Studying here has helped
me kick start my career and learn in a realistic environment.

TheoLevel 3 Advanced Technical EngineeringThe facilities and equipment meet industry standards
and are far better than other colleges. I love designing
a solution against a problem to then manufacture
my prototype.
