This one-day workshop has been designed to support anyone who is working with apprentices in their workplace. It will provide an overview of how apprenticeships work and the various elements that are included, as well as supporting the development of the skills needed to work in a mentoring role with apprentices.

• What is a mentor?
• Applying management skills to working with apprentices
• Expectations, workload allocation and, ongoing and continuous learning
• Key stages in the apprentice “life cycle” and the role of the mentor
• Structured conversations to support relationship-building and learning
• Managing challenging situations and conversations
• Question and answer session – addressing real-world questions from participants
• Identifying personal learning from this programme and action planning
