Legionella Risk Assessment and Disinfection

The 1 day BPEC Legionella Risk Assessment and Water Systems Disinfection for Mechanical Services course is suitable for all those who are responsible for designing, installing and maintaining hot and cold water services. It has been designed to meet the requirements of the revised Approved Code of Practice and Guidance: Legionnaire’s disease: The control of Legionella bacteria in water systems 4th Ed. 2013 (ACOP L8), and the technical guidance HSG274 Part 2: The control of Legionella in hot and cold water systems.

Along with theoretical training on current legislation, and the process involved in carrying out a thorough Legionella risk assessment of hot and cold water services, the training also covers the actual disinfection process.

Disinfection of hot and cold water systems is work that can be carried out by competent plumbing operatives. This courses aims to ensure operatives have the knowledge, skills and understanding to undertake the disinfection process competently and safely.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites

Applicants must hold a recognised trade qualification in plumbing and heating. A working knowledge of central heating, hot and cold water systems is essential as well as holding a recognised Water Regulations or Water Byelaws qualification.

This course is designed for experienced plumbing and heating operatives.

Assessment Information

Assessments normally consist of a combination of practical and theory examinations.

Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.
