Do you love drawing, do you enjoy sculpture & antiquity?
Come and join experienced artist and teacher, Jane Frederick for an exciting fifth term of the drawing course which is designed to give you a flavour of the traditional Art School workshop in a warm and relaxed environment and help you to develop your confidence in drawing from observation.
Based in the beautiful, light art studios in The Minories Art Gallery in Colchester, Jane will introduce you to new drawing and techniques. This term she will invite you to hone your observational skills by drawing classical antique sculptures with wet and dry media including ink wash and conte crayon. She will show you how to really understand what you are drawing, learn to interpret the underpinning structure of the form and how to observe light and tone as well as encouraging you to be ‘Bold, Loose and Accurate’ with your approach to drawing.
Each workshop will involve a stimulating new subject to discuss and draw and together and is suitable for complete beginners up to professional artists who may wish to develop their skills. All that is required is curiosity and a willingness to have a go and try something new! All participants will build a portfolio of works so if you are planning on applying for specialist art study in the future, this might be the course for you.
Jane Frederick has taught drawing at Colchester School of Art for over two decades and has a wealth of experience encouraging drawing development at all levels of experience. She is passionate about making drawing accessible to all and regularly runs gallery based workshops for complete beginners as well as experienced artists.
