What Will I Learn?

This course provides key practical skills and core knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines. You will begin by exploring health and safety regulations, technical drawing interpretation, and effective communication essential for working in engineering, alongside fundamental mathematical and scientific principles of engineering.

Through hands-on workshop practice, you will master maintenance principles and learn to assemble fluid power systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. You will also utilise computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) processes to program, design, and produce precision components.

In the electrical and electronic units, you will gain practical expertise maintaining electrical wiring support systems such as trunking and conduit, alongside wiring and testing electrical circuits to industry standards. Furthermore, you will build confidence constructing and fault finding electronics using diagnostic equipment. Combined with fault location and preventive maintenance techniques, this comprehensive training fully prepares you for advanced technical study or employment in the engineering sector.

In addition to your main study programme you will also engage in activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.
