What Will I Learn?

Our Carpentry Diploma programmes are designed to give you hands-on experience in a training environment that mirrors real site conditions. You’ll develop the skills needed to progress into industry as a site carpenter or bench joiner, with assessment based on showing what you can do through practical tasks and completing all units of the qualification.

Learning is a mix of practical workshop sessions, classroom-based study, and computer-aided activities, helping you to build a portfolio of evidence as you progress. You’ll work towards passing end-of-unit tests and practical assessments set by City & Guilds. Alongside your trade skills, you’ll also develop your English, maths, and employability skills to support your future career.

During the year, you will take part in industry-focused activities, including a minimum of 30 hours of work placement or employer engagement, giving you valuable insight into the world of work.
