Access to Apprenticeships

Access to Apprenticeships – 6 month Functional Skills and Employability programme

This course is aimed at any prospective student who wishes to progress onto an apprenticeship, but does not meet the relevant entry criteria for a course, or needs to develop the necessary work based learning skills.

Maths and English can often be seen as a barrier to success on an apprenticeship, and this programme will see students working in a supportive environment to achieve Functional Skills to a level 2 standard (GCSE 4 equivalent).

Students must have a requirement to achieve English/maths at Level 2 and will work towards achieving a Functional skill in either/both English and maths. Applicants who have already achieved a 4(C) GCSE grade in both subjects will not be accepted onto the course.

Degree Level Courses

We are still accepting applications for degree level programmes at University Centre Colchester, through the UCAS Clearing process for full-time study, and directly to University Centre Colchester for part-time study.

English and Maths

We offer a range of English and Maths courses for adults learners, ranging from entry level and Functional Skills programmes through to intensive GCSE resits.

Information about how to apply and booking your assessment can be found on the individual GCSE and Functional Skills course pages.

Part-time Courses

Applications are still open for the majority of the part-time further education courses offered at Colchester Institute, however at this late stage in the cycle applications have now closed for some courses starting in September.

Where a course is closed this will be clearly stated on the individual course page. Where this is the case and if you have not yet made an application and would like to be notified should a space become available, then there is the option to join a waiting list for the course, however at this late stage of the application cycle there is no guarantee that a space will become available for enrolment.

Where applications are closed the course waiting list form can be accessed using the menu located on the individual course page.

For courses where applications are open, the online application form is also accessed from the menu on the individual course page.
