Students from University Centre Colchester at Colchester Institute celebrated their achievements at the Mercury Theatre on Friday 26th September.
75 students took to the stage to collect degrees, diplomas and other higher-level awards in front of friends and family. Graduates had earned their awards in subjects including Teacher Education, Policing, Counselling, Business and Management, Construction, Engineering, Early Years, Fine Art and Digital Film Production.
With a long history in Higher Education, Colchester Institute is recognised for its industry-focused, employer-led programmes that open pathways into careers across both the public and private sectors.



Professor Olga Tregaskis and Dr Nena Skrbic, representatives from the validating universities – University of East Anglia and University of Huddersfield respectively, were present at the ceremony to give their words of conferral.
In addition to their degrees, 5 individuals were identified by academic staff to receive special recognition awards. Diana Bates, Nakita Hartman, and Sherida Goody each received Academic Achievement Awards for their exceptional performance. Degree Apprentice of the Year was awarded to Ben Bocking for his success in Business and Management, while Joseph Wright was recognised with the Outstanding Contribution Award for his impact on the university community.


Peter Beadles, Founder of ROL Cruise and Trustee of the Colchester Institute Foundation Trust (CIFT), was also recognised with an honorary doctorate for his exceptional contributions to business, education, and the community.
