At Colchester Institute we have international students studying both higher and further education courses.

Inlight of the new Immigration rules set by the UK Border Agency for students coming into the UK to study from outside of the European Economic Area; Colchester Institute can only accept applications for full-time courses in English Language, full-time courses at National Qualification Framework Level 3 or full-time Bachelor Degree programmes from students in this category.

Further education courses are taken by students after compulsory school age, i.e. 16 years of age. Many further education qualifications are designed to enable entry to higher education courses, such as honours degrees.

Students take higher education courses from the age of 18, usually after completing a two year further education course, such as a BTEC National Diploma or A Levels.

To ensure that you have the best chance of succeeding all students at the start of the course must have a minimum level of English Language ability. We require an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent for Further Education and IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent for Higer Education courses. English Language support is provided while you are following your main course of study. For overseas fee payers this language support is included in the course fee.
