Sustainability and Renewables Training

The Government has recently announced its intention to make funding available for training providers to further develop programmes with increased attention on sustainability to support the goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050.

There’s also almost £5 billion of funding available to help businesses in the UK. The funding will reward those investing in green technologies to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency.

Public opinion is increasing the pressure on companies to tackle sustainability issues. Decision makers must manage competing interests – including shareholders, the environment, politics and the media, all whilst conducting their business activities.

In October 2021, Colchester Institute joined many other organisations and colleges in declaring a Climate Emergency. The College is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and increasing the sustainability of how we do everything.

It is vital the environmental challenges facing Essex, England, and our planet are acknowledged and understood. As a college, we are exploring how best to tailor programmes and modules to focus on environmental sustainability. We’re developing new teaching spaces to allow the delivery of crucial new skills in heat pumps, electric vehicles, and renewable energy.

As a college, we are exploring how best to tailor programmes and modules that focus on environmental sustainability to keep our training in line with the rapidly changing pace of considerations for this factor.
