Wood Occupations: Carpentry, Joinery and Furniture Making Courses

If you’re practical, like making things and pay great attention to detail…

Our Furniture Production and Carpentry courses are delivered by tutors with extensive knowledge of the construction industry and their professional expertise is valued by our students.

Carpentry and joinery is a core trade within construction, especially in the house-building sector. As demand for new homes continues, so does the demand for carpentry and joinery.

There are excellent facilities, with training areas designed to simulate the working environment.

Career options include:

  • Bench Joiner
  • Carpenter
  • Cabinetmaker
  • Furniture Designer
  • Furniture Restorer
  • Kitchen and Bathroom Fitter
  • Wood Machinist

Career pathways may include working on new builds and refurbishments, with progression to a supervisory or technical support role. With experience, you could become a site supervisor or construction project manager. You could also move into construction estimating and contracts management, or specialise in areas like stage sets or heritage restoration.

As well as Further Education Carpentry courses, Apprenticeships are also available in Site Carpentry and Architectural Bench Joinery. Apprenticeships allow students to earn while they learn, as well as gain first-hand experience in a construction environment. Apprentices will gain the relevant training and education required to become a successful site carpenter or bench joiner.
