Allergy and Anaphylaxis Training for Schools and Education Settings

This one-day Allergy and Anaphylaxis training course is designed for schools, colleges, education settings and organisations working with children and young people who need staff to recognise, respond to and manage allergy and anaphylaxis safely and confidently.

The course includes the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in BLS, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis for Adults, Children and Infants (RQF), alongside additional learning focused on Benedict’s Law, school allergy safety expectations, allergy avoidance and Allergy Action Plans. Potentia Nurse Academy has confirmed Qualsafe accreditation to deliver the Level 3 Award, with an additional certificate covering the school-specific allergy learning.

This training is delivered face to face by experienced children’s and adult nurses and includes practical assessment, including emergency response and use of adrenaline auto-injectors.

Course Outline

The course supports education and childcare settings to improve allergy awareness, emergency preparedness and practical confidence when supporting children, young people or adults at risk of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis. Delegates will learn how allergy can present, how to identify common allergens, how to recognise anaphylaxis, how to reduce risk through allergy avoidance, and how to respond appropriately in an emergency situation. The course also explores Benedict’s Law, the National Allergy Strategy and current government direction around allergy safety in schools. The Department for Education has announced stronger allergy protections for schools, including plans for schools to stock life-saving allergy pens, compulsory allergy training and dedicated allergy policies.

Course Content

This course can help organisations strengthen staff confidence, improve emergency preparedness and support safer, more inclusive environments for children and young people with allergies.
