Colchester Institute Students Gain Quality Work Experience at Wembley Stadium

Digital Media and Photography students from Colchester Institute were given the opportunity to gain work experience at Wembley Stadium during the launch of Peter Shilton’s charity, Shiltons’ Silverlining.

Shiltons’ Silverlining is newly founded charity by Peter and Steph Shilton, providing support and hope to those struggling with a gambling disorder and support for their families. Students from the College were invited to capture the event through photography, videography and interviews, providing them with valuable experience.

The launch event welcomed several high-profile guests and speakers, including Global Events Host Peter Hopwood, Sir Iain Duncan Smith, Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Gambling Reform, representatives from NHS partners The Primary Care Gambling Service, and Dr Raffaello Rossi from the University of Bristol’s Gambling Harm Hub.

Bill Saunders, Expert Practitioner and Course Leader for Digital Media at Colchester Institute said, ‘The event was amazing and the students represented the department brilliantly throughout the event. Opportunities like this are vital in helping them to develop practical skills and prepare for future careers in the creative industries.

Harry Scarfe, who studies Level 3 Digital Content Creation and Social Media at the College’s Braintree campus said, ‘It was a fantastic experience and a great opportunity to work at such a high-profile event. Being able to photograph and interview people really helped build my confidence and develop skills I’ve learned on the course.’
