School of Art – Online Exhibitions

The School of Art Degree Show at University Centre Colchester is always an important event for us and at this time of year, our graduating students would normally be going through the process of preparing to show their work in our studio spaces and other venues, such as Firstsite, New Designers and Free Range. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we had to suspend this event. In the meantime, we have endeavoured to present as much of the work of our art and design students as we can here via an online platform. Please click here to view our students exciting work.

Our New Higher Education Logo

Something exciting was installed on our HE building last week… Our new lit-up logo!

We had a great time at UCAS!

On 23rd and 24th October we attended the UCAS Futures in Social Sciences, Humanities and Teaching and on 13th and 14th November we attended the UCAS Futures in Creative Arts, virtually of course!

It was great to see so many people there exploring their options for the future!

Oliver’s New Role

Jack Petchey award winner Oliver Taylor has continued to go from strength to strength by starting an exciting new role in the wood manufacturing industry.

Oliver, who completed his studies at Colchester Institute in 2020 was awarded the Jack Petchey award for being a top performing student and assisting his peers.

After his family recently moved to Manningtree, Oliver researched local companies and found ‘Woodfashioners’ where he manged to secure a position during the covid crisis, which is testament to his hard work and tenacity.

‘Woodfashioners’ who also employ two former Colchester Institute Wood Occupations students are a family organisation who specialise in building unique, bespoke, ‘one-of-a-kind’ spaces including exhibition stands, furniture, retail displays and marketing activations for events, exhibitions, home and business.
