This is a brand new course from Pearson to be delivered from 2016 onwards, in conjunction with University Centre Colchester.
The course is delivered in partnership with OLC Europe, with students being able to study at one of three campuses, either London, Manchester or Bolton.
Students will typically be enrolled onto the HNC in the first year, with the option of progressing onto the HND in the second year of study.
The structure of the course is designed to build up the standard level of units (in the HNC format) and the more advanced level (in the HND format) for a career in the business world, but it is delivered in a holistic way which aims to develop confidence, teamwork and other vocational skills. These modules are in alignment with the Business Degrees that the UK Universities offer, typically in the first two years of their degrees. They include several crucial topics that the business world is facing. The course is delivered by highly qualified practitioners and managers from both business and academic backgrounds.
An excellent and exciting course, Higher National level Certificate/Diploma introduces students to a broad range of business and managerial principles. You will be studying on a course designed to combine a practical approach to several aspects of business, which at the same time offers an internationally recognised award.
Your studies will include the three mandatory units listed below and students will also take several optional units.
Entry criteria – The minimum requirement is for 24 UCAS Points* achieved through A Levels, or an equivalent Level 3 qualification, and 4 GCSEs (grades A*-C) including maths and English or Functional Skills equivalent. Students without formal qualifications but with appropriate work experience will be considered individually. Students whose first language is not English will require an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent. Discretionary literacy and IT competency tests may be required.
Successful completion of the HND will allow progression onto a third year BA or BSc university programme.
However, some find a job in businesses on completion of the course and pursue careers in accounting, retail, financial services etc.
The course is accredited by Pearson Edexcel: part of the largest and most well known international educational standards organisation.
