University Centre Colchester Graduation 2024

Students from University Centre Colchester at Colchester Institute celebrated their achievements at the Mercury Theatre.

More than 100 students took to the stage to collect degrees, diplomas and other higher level awards, and to graduate in front of friends and family. Graduates had earned their awards in subjects which included Engineering, Construction, Business, Teaching, Counselling, Early Years Studies and Visual and Performing Arts.

Colchester Institute has a very long history of delivering Higher Education courses and is particularly known for its employer-led and industry-focussed programmes which lead graduates into a wide range of career opportunities within the public and private sectors. 

Professor Christine Bovis-Cnossen and Dr Nena Skrbic representatives from the validating universities – University of East Anglia and University of Huddersfield respectively, were present at the ceremony to give their words of conferral.        

In addition to their degrees, seven individuals were identified by academic staff to receive special recognition awards. The award winners were Susannah Haynes, Harry Flicker, Sam Elcock, Matthew Glover, Jake England, Timothy Gannicott-Porter and Laura Hales.

Also recognised on the day was Kevin Prince, Chair of Colchester Institute Corporation Board who received an honorary doctorate in recognition of 50 years’ service to education and 16 years of voluntary service to Colchester Institute.
