Sally is the Programme Leader for undergraduate Early Childhood Studies programmes. Sally’s early years background began in a private preparatory school and has seven years’ management experience in early years settings, including achieving Ofsted ‘Outstanding’.

Sally teaches modules such as Academic Practice, Child Development, Curriculum Studies, Childhood in Society, Global Pedagogies, Enabling Environments, Leadership and Management and Children’s Rights.

She has worked here since 2018 and completed my PGCE in the lifelong sector in July 2021. Sally enjoys keeping up to date with specialist subject knowledge through conferences, professional networking, and developing links with providers and guest speakers.

Rose is a lecturer for the undergraduate Early Childhood Studies programmes. Rose’s early years background began in a preschool for a domestic violence refuge, offering information and guidance for mothers on rebuilding a family.

Rose started her teaching career with Colchester Institute, teaching on the Early Years BTEC Level 3. This has provided a wealth of knowledge in current needs for preschools in the local area, and supports knowledge of current practice within settings.

She completed an MA in Education and her current research focuses on understanding the impact of school closures on the learning and wellbeing of children who were taught at home through lockdown. Rose is exploring current practices in supporting students through pregnancy and having children at home while continuing to study. Rose believes that education should be possible and accessible to all who want to achieve the qualification.

Wendy is a lecturer for the Undergraduate Early Childhood Studies programmes. Wendy’s career in education began as a teaching assistant but she was inspired to study for a degree in Early Years at Colchester Institute and then complete a PGCE to become a primary school teacher.

Wendy has worked across the Key Stages in Colchester and then worked for 5 years in an International School in Cyprus, working with a range of nationalities and cultures.

Wendy teaches modules such as Understanding and Supporting Special Education Needs and Disabilities, Professional Practice, Enabling Environments, and Child Development.

Wendy is interested in teaching creativity, the importance of play and using the outdoor environment, especially in STEAM subjects across Early Years and primary education.
