A highly driven final year graduate designer with a professional background in special education teaching, wedding photography as well as a passion for photography and corporate design with a keen interest to expand into branding, packaging and wayfinding design in the near future.
For me I feel it’s important to try and accomplish a full range of technical skills that can meet briefs to as high standard as possible utilising techniques such as print making, photography, painting and typography whereby bringing all the elements together with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign software.

I’m Dalton Friend a Graphic Design Undergraduate, aspiring to specialise in UX/UI industry. My Final Major Projects are split into two different projects ‘Temperature’ and ‘Modality UI’.
Temperature is a non-contact digital thermometer for human use, that connects to your mobile device and was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling individuals and organisations to scan, track and better visualise body temperature.
Temperature UI is designed to stand out from traditional digital thermometers, whilst providing critical information to the user, with colour-coded indicators to differentiate body temperatures and provide information about body temperature from healthcare specialists.
Modality is a UI paradigm focusing on a structured and tailored experience, enabling the user to focus on self-contained tasks in individual modes, receiving essential information at a glance from live tiles that act as full application widgets.
‘The modes are split between essential, social, professional and custom mode.

My final project truly puts a positive light on my entire purpose of becoming a designer. I have created a brand called Eco-Craft which aims to make creatives interested and what to learn about climate change through expanding their craft skills. The final project included a handmade, sustainable package featuring a magazine and craft-based project.
My exhibition relates to my packages by using paper craft to portray the damage we as humans have caused. My original art piece is seen as visually beautiful however, as the use looks closer it contains shocking surprises which outlines human destruction.

Throughout my time on the course I have experimented heavily with photography, printmaking, digital illustration and calligraphy.
However, over the duration of the year have focused on improving, refining and developing my illustration skillset.
This has brought me to a point where I am a confident illustrator, especially taking a keen interest in studying nature and botanical subjects.
The Final Major Project I produced called ‘Outside In’ has allowed me to work outside of my comfort zone and create illustrations on a large scale directly onto the wall.
Through using detailed and annotated, monochromatic illustrations I have aimed to convey the importance and beauty of our local environment.

I’m a Graphic Artist with an obsession for music based design, and a portfolio made up of cover art, illustrations, festival branding and music videos.
My FMP is titled, Isolation Tapes and is my response to the pandemic, whilst making do with what resources I have to hand. Inspired by the musicians putting on performances via live-streams, I wanted to compile music made in self-isolation and document it for people to look back on when the pandemic is over.
To achieve this, I created my own record label and brand identity, then reached out to musicians from around the world to find 8 artists to be a part of my project.
The end results are four albums on handmade cassettes, each complete with foldout inserts containing artwork and artist interviews on the pandemic. A digital store/streaming service and live video premiers for each release through YouTube.

I’m a graphic designer that indulges in all aspects of design from print to digital, In the past year I have become very passionate in motion graphics, this is something I’ve been working on in my free time to develop my skills and craft within the motion design industry.
This is why I decided to use motion design as the backbone of my FMP which is entitled Tescough.
I worked within a team to create a brand to fundraise for our D&AD new bloods festival stand, throughout this project I developed a logo, brand guidelines and a variety of advertisement and marketing material.
To raise money we put our skills to use and designed merchandise such as t-shirts tote bags and prints.
Tescough: an insight from the perspective of a supermarket keyworker into working throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, using motion design and digital graphics to bring storytelling to life in a satirical manner.

I’m an Illustrator with a huge passion for games and history, with the main body of my work consisting of comic book creations, pixel art and other illustrations.
The title of my FMP is Revived Generations which during this time in lockdown and with the current situation affecting a lot of families in terms of visiting one another, my main goal is to encourage that younger audience to spend those precious moments with family members. As I did as a kid, I spent a lot of time writing down my grandad’s stories, so I want to illustrate these in a comic book format.
For the final piece, I will create a comic book documenting at least one of the stories from what my grandad told me. This will then be a continued project throughout the summer and one I hope to pursue as a future career path.

I am a Graphic Design student with a passion for digital and analog photography and photographic based design.
For my FMP I looked into three different aspects of isolation living, these were ‘Barbican’, ‘Little Tey’ and ‘The Bell Inn’.
Each section showed a different aspect of the new rules and regulations put in place by the government; having to stay at home, being allowed out for 1 hour of exercise per day and being banned from the pub.
Due to this isolation, I have had to re-think my way of obtaining images and information to use within my projects.
I have had to utilise the power of social media and the kindest of strangers in order to complete my work.
This has taught me the importance of being resourceful and the skill of being able to adapt easily to a new environment.
