I would highly recommend this course to everyone, as even the most practical person still can use time to be more mindfully aware in giving your grey matter some time out for a workout. Very useful and practical and has helped me awaken my creative and curious personality. Thank you Heather!

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness meditation is a practice that promotes greater self awareness of thoughts, emotions, behaviours and bodily sensations. It is the art of learning to pay attention more skilfully to your own self as well as the world around you. Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, boost the immune system and initiate brain changes that are linked to an increased sense of well being.

Yoga Classes

Chris Goriup qualified as a British Wheel of Yoga Teacher in 1993, and teaching the style of Hatha Yoga and meditation he has taught in and around the Colchester area since then.

Born to parents who were themselves Yoga teachers Chris visited India and Nepal in 1983 and again in 1986. These first visits laid out the path of Yoga practice for Chris that still continues today.

Chris has developed a style of Yoga and meditation that is accessible to everyone, from the young to the elderly, from the disabled to people of emotional and psychological sensitivity. He currently works for Help for Heroes, The MS Society, Colchester Sheltered Accommodation, and has a number of classes in Health and Fitness Centres around Colchester.

It is said that Yoga is over 5000 years old, originating in Northern India. The knowledge of the ancients has been passed down over the generations to the benefit of millions of practitioners around the world. Individuals will see improvements on all levels through the regular practice and meditation, physical enhancements to strength, agility, stamina and even weight loss, as well as a balancing of the emotions and a calming of the mind.
