Then the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools will provide you with the knowledge needed to work in a School environment.

Here at Colchester Institute, we offer a supportive learning environment to extend your skills to meet the rewarding challenges of working to support children’s learning and development.

The course will support your preparation for occupational areas, such as administrative roles, site and technical support roles, and roles directly with children.

We also offer a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Children and Young Peoples Workforce, as well as Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.

Course Content

The CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools (QCF) is an introduction to information and knowledge needed to work in primary, secondary and special schools. It covers the many varied roles that full and part time staff may fulfill including administrative roles, site support roles, technical roles and volunteers, as well as those roles that work directly with children and young people in a school environment.

How will I learn?

The CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools offers a more flexible style of learning including both online and classroom learning.

The course combines developing your practical and theoretical skills at College, together with experience gained in the workplace.

The CACHE Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools covers:

  • Child and young person development
  • Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
  • Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
  • Option Units to include: Schools as organisations
How will I be assessed?

The above modules will be assessed through knowledge based written assessments. Excellent attendance is required in order to achieve the qualification.

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have a strong interest in the area of working with children to support their learning, and development; it also provides initial induction training for those in a new post.
