Easter Closure and return to study

The College will be closed from Saturday 4th April to Tuesday 14th April (inclusive), there will be no work set for classroom based courses over this normal 2 week holiday period, however we will be returning to remote working on Wednesday 15th April for staff to continue to prepare online learning and resources.

UCC students and Apprentices will return to their online remote learning on Monday 20th April.

Further Education students will return to online remote learning on Wednesday 22nd April. This delay is to allow teaching staff to prepare materials for the next few weeks of online learning on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st April.

Preparing to Work in Dental Environments Level 2

Whether you are planning to become a Dental Nurse or looking to enhance your existing knowledge, our dental qualifications will allow you to fulfill your career ambitions.

The full-time Technical Certificate in Preparing to Work in Dental Environments provides learners with an introduction to Dental Nursing. This course is suitable for applicants interested in progressing on to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, or working as a receptionist in a dental surgery.

Course Content

Level 2 Technical Certificate in Preparing to Work in Dental Environments ( City & Guilds) units may include:

  • Cross Infection Control
  • Communication
  • First Aid
  • Safeguarding
  • Reception and Administration in a Dental Setting
  • Health & Safety

In addition to your main programme you will also engage in activities to develop your English, maths and employability skills.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSES’s (grades A* – E), including English and Maths (grades 9-3), or satisfactory results (Merit/Distinction) in a relevant Level 1 qualification, and an interview.

Course Progression

Students can progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, the Certificate in Dental Decontamination Level 3 or a Health and Social Care BTEC Diploma Level 3
