Easter Closure and return to study

The College will be closed from Saturday 4th April to Tuesday 14th April (inclusive), there will be no work set for classroom based courses over this normal 2 week holiday period, however we will be returning to remote working on Wednesday 15th April for staff to continue to prepare online learning and resources.

UCC students and Apprentices will return to their online remote learning on Monday 20th April.

Further Education students will return to online remote learning on Wednesday 22nd April. This delay is to allow teaching staff to prepare materials for the next few weeks of online learning on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st April.

PAT Certificate of Competence 2377-22

The Certificate of Competence for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT) 2377-22 is based on the IET’s Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment in association with City and Guilds.

On completion delegates will be able to undertake and record inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

Day 1

Allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required to test portable electrical appliances with the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. With a practical Assessment on completion of day 1, as required by City & Guilds

Day 2

Allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required to identify and deal with all areas of inspection and testing and recording formal visual and combined inspection and testing with the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. With an online multi-choice exam of 1 hour 45 minutes, as required by City & Guilds.

  • The latest version of the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
  • A scientific calculator

Training method:

Seminar, practical ‘hands-on’ exercise, short answer questions and multi choice questions relating to the Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Course outcome/qualification:

City & Guilds Certificate of Competence for the Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment.

Entry Requirements

The certificate is aimed at those who carry out inspection and testing of in-service electrical equipment and have workplace experience in inspection and testing of portable electrical appliances.

  • Familiarity with the ‘Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment’ – pre-course reading is recommended.
  • Delegates should be aged 18 and over.
