Motor Vehicle Part-Time VCQ/VRQ/NVQ/ Competence Qualifications

These are nationally-recognised vocational qualifications that demonstrate, to a national standard, competency in the workplace. Competence qualifications are practically-based and, to establish skill and proficiency, are assessed in the workplace across a range of tasks.

Who are Motor Vehicle Part-Time VCQ/VRQ/NVQ/ Competence Qualifications suitable for?

  • Those who are already in employment and who wish to achieve a qualification that demonstrates competence in the workplace. Please note, experienced staff enter onto a programme at the level suited to their role and competence
  • Those undertaking an Apprenticeship with a competence qualification, e.g. VCQ/NVQ, requirement
  • School and College learners on work placements/apprenticeships who wish to join the automotive industry
Vehicle Maintenance

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

This VCQ is an integral part of IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship Framework (Light Vehicle Route). Therefore learners (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can take this VCQ as part of the Apprenticeship framework.

ABOUT

This L2 qualification is designed to provide a standardised approach for the delivery and assessment of the competence and knowledge requirements. This VCQ also forms the integral component of the IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship framework (for Light Vehicle).

Learners are required to demonstrate all of the evidence requirements, learning outcomes, assessment criteria through workplace evidence. Full guidance documents and assessment records are supplied by IMI.

PROGRESSION

This qualification forms the knowledge component (technical certificate) of the IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship framework (for the Light Vehicle). When an apprentice has achieved a L2 Apprenticeship, they can then choose to broaden their education and training in other ways from this firm base.

ASSESSMENT

The knowledge component of this qualification is also independently assessed via online testing. The tests are mapped to each knowledge unit’s learning outcomes and assessment criteria to ensure coverage. These tests are marked electronically by IMI.

Paint Refinishing

WHO IS IT SUITABLE FOR?

This VCQ is an integral part of IMI SSC Accident Repair Apprenticeship Framework (Paint Route). Therefore learners (normally aged 16-25) who are keen to build a career in the industry can take this VCQ as part of the Apprenticeship framework.

This is a work-based automotive qualification that assesses the competence and knowledge that motorcycle technicians require in order to perform their job effectively. It is based upon the IMI Sector Skills Council’s National Occupational Standards for Maintenance and Repair (Motorcycle route).

This VCQ is designed to provide a standardised approach for the delivery and assessment of the competence and knowledge requirements and forms the integral component of the IMI SSC Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship framework (for motorcycle).
