Easter Closure and return to study

The College will be closed from Saturday 4th April to Tuesday 14th April (inclusive), there will be no work set for classroom based courses over this normal 2 week holiday period, however we will be returning to remote working on Wednesday 15th April for staff to continue to prepare online learning and resources.

UCC students and Apprentices will return to their online remote learning on Monday 20th April.

Further Education students will return to online remote learning on Wednesday 22nd April. This delay is to allow teaching staff to prepare materials for the next few weeks of online learning on Monday 20th and Tuesday 21st April.

C&G 2919-01 Level 3 Award In Domestic, Commercial and Industrial Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation

Due to Government policy and market forces there is an increasing demand for new electric vehicle charging points across the country in domestic, commercial and industrial applications.
Expanding your skills to install electric vehicle charging installation points in these areas should prove to be very lucrative over the coming years.

This course is intended for experienced electricians who are looking to enhance their skills to allow them to carry out the installation and commissioning of electric vehicle charging points for domestic, commercial and “on street” applications.

Course Content

This course covers all the key skills to install, inspect and test electric vehicle charging points. The course is delivered over 2 x 8 hour days with an online exam booked for the evening of the 2nd training days.

Entry Requirements

City and Guilds state that there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however you need to meet the following requirements to have the opportunity and potential to succeed:  Candidates must:

  • Be minimum age 18 years old
  • Be a practicing electrician qualified to Level 3
  • Be able to correctly install and terminate wiring systems such as: Steel Wire armoured cable (swa)
  • Be able to correctly carry out an initial verification (inspection & testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork.
  • Hold the current qualification 2382-18 18th edition wiring regulations.

The City and Guilds assessment criteria for this course has recently changed (September 2019).

This assessment change means that each candidate will now be assessed against 4 practical tasks with a combined time duration of 3½ hours.

The practical assessment will be a half day for each candidate.
