Electrical Awareness

The Electrical Awareness two day course covers both theory and practical training in relation to basic domestic electrical circuits, electrical regulations and electrical principles. This training will allow candidates to carry out basic electrical work and replacement of electrical accessories in domestic dwellings. The scope of this work is no longer notifiable under part P legislation

This course is ideal for multi-skilled staff and those that are required to carry out basic electrical works as part of their work. Part of the course can be tailored to suit the client’s particular area with training being provided to better understand the electrical element of the work they carry out. For example, a focus on Earthing and bonding, installation of fixed appliances, automation etc.

Electrical Awareness Training Course Content

Day 1

  • Introduction to basic electrical theory
  • The dangers associated with the use of electricity and “how shocks happen and how to prevent them”
  • The Law and regulation relating to the use of electricity in the home
  • Special locations
  • Principles of Earthing and Bonding
  • “Basic” and “Fault” protection
  • Terminating cables
  • Lighting and power circuits
  • Safe isolation

Day 2

  • Practical safe isolation
  • Practical wiring skills
  • Practical terminating
  • Revision of course

Training method

Practical and written material. On successful completion of the course candidates will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
