Domestic Gas Foundation – Managed Learning Programme (MLP)

Our Domestic Gas Foundation Managed Learning Programme (MLP) training course is designed for new entrants wanting to work in the gas industry.

Pre-requisites

Trainees who lack gas training and experience will need to hold a recognised qualification in the mechanical services engineering sector (e.g. plumbing), or relevant experience. This will be examined at an entry assessment/interview.

It will also be beneficial to have a basic understanding of English and Maths as demonstrated by GCSEs (Grade C/4) or equivalent.

Further Information

Assessments consist of a combination of practical and theory.

The course requires in-centre training plus ‘on the job’ training with candidates providing work-based evidence under the supervision of a Gas Safe registered installer.

On completion of the training portfolio and successful recommendation, candidates are issued with a BPEC Gas Foundation certificate.

Upon receipt of the Gas Foundation certificate candidates can then apply to undertake the relevant ACS assessments.

Expiry Information

There is a 12 month expiry date on the Gas Foundation Certificate (there is also an expiry for the ACS gas assessments which is five years).

Training Materials

All training materials will be provided including the Gas Foundation Candidate Portfolio.  The portfolio will allow candidates to record all the training they complete as evidence of the necessary knowledge and experience to undertake the relevant ACS assessments.

What next?

On completion of the training, portfolio and successful recommendation, candidates are issued with a BPEC Gas Foundation Certificate which will enable the candidate to make an application to undertake the domestic core gas safety (CCN1) and the central heating boilers and instantaneous water heaters (CENWAT) ACS assessments.

The ACS assessments can be undertaken at Colchester Institute.
