Dementia Awareness

Our Adult Learning Shops focus on building on individual employability skills, providing a range of ‘route to employability’ introduction courses.

This courses aims to provide learners with knowledge about common types of dementia, the signs and symptoms of dementia, and good practice in caring for an individual with dementia.  It is useful for those who want to know more about the topic for themselves or others, in a personal, professional or voluntary capacity.

The following units are covered:

  • Common types of dementia
  • How common types of dementia can affect an individual
  • The importance of focusing on the individual person when caring for someone with dementia
  • Ways in which a carer can support an individual suffering from dementia
How To Apply

Please get in touch with us if you are interested in enrolling onto an English or mathematics course.

You can email or phone us via the details provided on this page or submit the course enquiry form.

The Learning Shop will then book an appointment with a National Carers Service adviser and make arrangements for you to complete an assessment to determine the appropriate level for you to study at.

We will also need to confirm whether or not you are eligible to pay any course fees, and you may be asked to provide some further information about your current employment and financial status and previous learning.

Once this has been completed we will then enrol you onto your course programme.
