What you will do in your working day

  • Provide full admin support to the office team, mainly the Electrical Contracts Manager
  • Perform data-entry, documentation, printing, and filling duties
  • Assist in any ad-hoc duties, projects, and activities as and when required
  • Interpersonal skills - building and maintaining relationships
  • Liaise with clients and maintain high standards with clients and potential customers
  • Undertake and lead projects as and when required
  • Review processes autonomously and make suggestions for improvements
  • Decision making and exercising judgement

You will listen carefully and evaluate all relevant information and respond to customer needs, creating a positive customer interaction and experience. Importantly you must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where jobs are received and processed on a daily basis. There will be an element of decision and problem-solving skills to resolve challenging or complex complaints and is a key point of contact for addressing issues.

The training you will be getting

  • The apprentice will be working towards the Business Administrator Level 3 apprenticeship standard
  • All delivered within the workplace via online training and at Colchester Institute Campus

Things to consider

This is a dynamic role that will evolve with the requirements of the business. There is scope to earn overtime, but this is on negotiation and not essential. The role is office based and you will be given equipment associated with the role.

About the employer

Essex and Kent Electrical Services Ltd has been trading as electrical contractors since 2017 and are NICEIC approved and is based in Gosfield Essex. We are CHAS and Constructionline accredited and also employ an external H&S consultant. We are trained as UKATA 1 and 2 therefore able to work on non-licensed asbestos negating the need to stop work on site and able to carry this out ourselves. In addition all our operatives are asbestos aware trained and CSCS/ECS registered. We are currently heavily involved in the social housing sector working for clients such as Chorus Group, Cotman Housing and Places for People undertaking; VOID electrical works, rewire programs, EICR's in occupied and unoccupied properties and reactive works. We have a robust back office process that provides a high quality service for our clients. We provide up to date data and information which tells our clients the progress of jobs, job completion and customer service standards being achieved along with weekly submission of relevant electrical documents such as EICR's, electrical installation certificates, minor works and Part P notifications. For our larger clients we provide a client relationship manager who will develop a working relationship with clients in order to ensure the quality of works. We work closely with our clients in order to achieve satisfactory outcomes to EICR's where reasonably practicable to do so; by carrying out recommended remedial works to installations whilst on site and in prior agreement with our client. Where this may not be achieved for reasons such as extensive works being required, we work with our clients to advise them of the necessary works required along with a quotation for the work within 2 working days.
