Christopher Bridge, Chairman of Colchester Institute Corporation Board, has been awarded an MBE for services to Further Education and Skills in the New Year Honours List.
He first joined the Board of Governors at the College in 1989 and has been Chairman for the last six years.
Alison Andreas, Principal and Chief Executive said, “This is a much deserved honour for Christopher, who, in this important role, has freely given of his time, expertise and passion over so many years’”
Christopher responded to this prestigious award commenting, “I am delighted to be honoured, not just on a personal basis, but also as it recognises the work that all the Governors at Colchester Institute do.
I believe that the success of the North Essex economy is heavily indebted to the great work that the College does in preparing thousands of people for their careers.”
Christopher will be retiring from his post as Chairman this month. The incoming Chairman, Kevin Prince commented, “His advice, leadership and enthusiasm will be missed by fellow Board members and staff.” He further added that this was a fitting tribute to the many years of loyal voluntary service that Christopher had given.
