University Centre Colchester at Colchester Institute receives Silver award for teaching excellence
University Centre Colchester at Colchester Institute has received further confirmation of its standard of degree provision by being granted a Silver Award under the new national Teaching Excellence Framework, which is valid for 3 years. The Teaching Excellence Framework ranks providers for the quality of their provision and is awarded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
UCC received commendations for its teaching provision, specifically highlighting the personalised learning experience, student support, effective links with the industry and excellent investment in industry standard learning resources.
UCC’s focus on employability is apparent in the TEF statement, which refers to the ‘excellent outcomes’ that students achieve. Students studying at UCC progress to high skilled employment or further higher study at a rate better than the national average.
In addition to the recent award, UCC at Colchester Institute also received a Good Ofsted grade for its Initial Teacher Training degree courses earlier this year. The quality of teaching on its teacher training courses is ranked 1.5% above national average and, like all higher education delivered at the College, provides strong personal support and high levels of academic and subject specific guidance.
