Three apprentices at Braintree Precision Components have reached the South East Regional final of the EEF Manufacturing Awards. The ceremony is due to take place on Thursday 9th November 2017 at Epsom Downs race course. Joshua Ayling, Jonathan Barnard and Jamie Matthew are first year manufacturing apprentices who attend Colchester Institute as part of their apprenticeship and will go head to head alongside nominees for the award. The lucky winner will then compete at the National Apprentice of the Year final.
All three apprentices are strong advocates of apprenticeships as a route of progression. Joshua Ayling said: “I have learnt so many skills through working with the mature workforce at BPC that I would not have gotten if I had chosen the full time route. Being nominated is a credit to them.”
Jonathan Barnard commented on his brilliant experience so far as an apprentice at Braintree Precision Components: “I would choose to do an apprenticeship over and over again with BPC and urge young people to consider the apprenticeship route.”
Jamie Matthew said: “The apprenticeship has given me confidence and independence and will kick start my career as an Engineer.”
