Business and IT students solve international crisis in team-building exercise
Business and IT students at our Colchester campus had the opportunity to widen their team building skills by engaging in a role play press conference, responding to ‘The Dacan Crisis’ – a simulated international emergency. The activity was led by Andy Gillman as part of the Ministry of Defence Education Outreach Programme. The students were split into groups where they assigned themselves as key members of the Government including the Prime Minister and Secretary of State.
The task involved forming an action plan of strategies required to help alleviate the situation and reassure the people of Dacan, the students then had to present their ideas in the form of a press conference. Following the presentation of their action plans, students were grilled by the audience with a question and answer session.
The spontaneity and challenge of this task will prepare students for the demands of employment after they leave College, where good team skills and the ability to react quickly are so important to employers.
