The Minories Art Gallery is a professional contemporary art gallery run by the School of Art, Design and Media and is dedicated to our Postgraduate programmes.

A listed Georgian building, The Minories is of local importance within the historic town of Colchester. The Friends of the Minories and Victor Batte-Lay Trust have ensured the building be used to the benefit of the local arts community. This has continued and now ensures The Colchester School of Art, Design and Media provides contemporary art and design in one Colchester’s most distinctive buildings.

The library carries a stock of over 100,000 items including books, DVDs and videos, audio cassettes, records, compact discs, music scores, on-line services and CD-ROM. There are also over 500 current journal titles available as well as cuttings files and reference material to help with assignment work. The inter-library loan service ensures that students have access to a wide range of publications from libraries elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

Colchester Institute's Centre for Music and Performing Arts boasts a long tradition of promoting a yearly series of top quality events. This year, the Centre has no less than 16 professional events and a wealth of other student events and mini festivals.
