Adult Learning Grant

What is an ALG?

The ALG (Adult Learning Grant) is intended to help adults studying full-time (more than 12 guided learning hours per week) with the costs of learning. The grant pays up to £30 per week (subject to financial assessment) for full-time students aged 19 and over who are studying for a first full level 2 or a first full level 3 qualification. The award is assessed on the student's income or household income where the student has a co-habiting partner.

  • You are aged 19 or over
  • You are studying full time (over 12 hours per week)
  • You are studying for a first full level 2 or a first full level 3 qualification

Will ALG affect my benefits?
