IT Students help local Charity
Level 3 IT students at The College at Braintree and Braintree Mencap have worked together on a joint project to develop a new Braintree District Mencap Society website.
Braintree Mencap contacted lecturer Gill Fryatt to see if the students would like to assist in developing a new site as a joint venture. Over the past four months the students have worked with the charity, developing ideas and understanding the needs of its members with a learning disability, to ensure the website is accessible to all.
“It has been a pleasure working with the students they have all worked extremely hard and created some fantastic websites.” said Michele Roskrow, General Manager at Braintree Mencap.
Gill Fryatt, lecturer in Computing at The College at Braintree said: “Our BTEC Level 3 Diploma students have had a brief taste of what it is like to design and create a website for a client under certain time constraints. They met with representatives from Mencap to discuss their requirements and particular design requests, and received valuable feedback along the way. It has been a wonderful experience for the students and has also given them an opportunity to contribute to the local community. They have all worked extremely hard and should be proud of their efforts.”
