The Food of Love
As Valentine’s Day continues to become more commercialised, one man has decided to learn to cook, in order to impress his wife, this year. A prospective parliamentary candidate is to visit Colchester Institute on Tuesday 9th February, to work with catering students and pick up the skills necessary to create a fabulous meal this Valentine’s Day.
Will Quince, who works as a National Account Manager for Britvic Soft Drinks in Essex, will attend class at the Centre for Hospitality and Food Studies, to help create a meal, along with students on the level 2 course.
Will says: ‘‘This is a very exciting opportunity for me. I’d like to prove to myself, and other men, that you can prepare a delicious meal even if you think you can’t cook. And what better way to say I love you on Valentine’s Day than to cook a meal yourself! I fully intend to recreate what I learn to impress my wife this February 14th.’’
Will and his fellow students for the day will prepare the meal in the morning, which will then be served to customers in the restaurant at lunchtime.
The Centre for Hospitality and Food Studies provides excellent, specialist facilities for the hospitality students, from a demonstration room complete with cameras and monitors to larders, stores, general kitchens, workshops, patisseries, restaurants, bars and receptions areas.
In 2008 the Centre was crowned ‘College Restaurant of the Year’ after winning the UK title sponsored by Restaurant Magazine.
