Examinations
IELTS
We offer classes to prepare you for IELTS, which you need to take if you wish to study at a UK university. For most universities you need a score between 6 and 7, depending on the university and course of study. The IELTS test can be taken in Colchester every month throughout the year. Cambridge
The Cambridge (UCLES) examinations offered at Colchester Institute are:
- KET (Key English Test)
- PET (Preliminary English Test)
- FCE (First Certificate in English)
- CAE (Certificate in Advanced English)
- CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- BEC (Business English Certificates) (depending on numbers)
These examinations can be taken in June and December (depending on numbers), and some are also available in March and April.
If you wish to take a Cambridge examination, you will need to register and pay for the examination approximately three months before the examination dates. Students taking any examination in June must register for classes in Term 3, and pay a non-returnable deposit for term three.
