We offer English as a Foreign Language as well as a range of full time Further and Higher Education courses.
Further Education
These courses are generally aimed at those wishing to study vocational areas and those whose academic qualifications are not yet at a high enough level to go straight to a degree course.
Further Education courses are usually 1 or 2 years long and offer such qualifications as National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) and National Diplomas. Colchester Institute offers Further Education courses in areas including Business, Computing and IT, Catering and Hospitality, Art and Design and Music and Performing Arts. After completing a Further Education course you may have the right level of qualification to progress onto a Higher Education course.
Higher Education
This covers undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses. We offer two year Foundation degrees and three year Honours degree programmes at Colchester Institute. Our Foundation degrees all include an element of work placement and on successful completion students can apply to join the 3rd year of the relevant Honours degree programme to "top up" their Foundation degrees.
These undergraduate degree programmes are offered in subject areas such as Art and Design, Business and Management, Computing and Music and Performing Arts.
Please note Foundation degrees are not the same as International Foundation programmes.
Colchester Institute currently offers MA Music as a full time postgraduate course. All of our degree programmes are awarded by the University of Essex .
