Course Description:

This course will provide an introduction to those interested in working in the Sport, Leisure or Travel and Tourism industries. It will develop their knowledge, understanding and the skills required by the different vocational areas and help motivate them to progress to higher level qualifications or entry level employment.

Class tuition is combined with guided assignments, personal study, practical assessments, and role plays.

In addition students will study at least one functional skill in English, mathematics or ICT as part of their main programme.

This course is a foundation learning programme and so in addition to the vocational qualification and functional skills, a work skills qualification will also be undertaken.

Units include:

  • How the Body Works
  • Introduction to Hospitality
  • Customer Service in Travel and Tourism
  • Taking Part in Exercise and Fitness
  • Planning a Trip to a Visitor Attraction

Entry Requirements:

A minimum of 2 GCSEs (grades D-G)

Career Opportunities:

Junior or entry level opportunities; supported employment.

Course Progression:

Successful completion will provide qualifications for entry into BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport, BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or another Level 2 course.
