Course Description:

This course is suitable as an introduction to accountancy. Gaining a level 3 qualification will enable students to work as a trainee accountant and provide a firm grounding for future progress. Students will study level 2 followed by level 3 on an intensive fast track programme.

Traditional classroom teaching will be supplemented with simulated accounting activities.

In addition, students will study at least one Functional Skill in English, maths or ICT as part of their main programme.

Course Content:

  • Bookkeeping
  • Information technology
  • Recording and accounting for cash and credit transactions
  • Preparing ledgers, trial balance and management reports

Entry Requirements:

Normally a minimum of 2 GCSEs (grades A*-C) including English and maths and at least one AS Level preferably in accounts (or a related subject), or one year's relevant work experience.

Career Opportunities:

Work within an accounts department or as a trainee accountant.

Course Progression:

AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting.
