The Mental Capacity Act 2005 was amended in April 2009 to include the deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLs).

These safeguards will ensure any person who needs to be deprived of their liberty in order to provide treatment or protection from self harm and who lacks the capacity to understand this, will be entitled by law to an assessment process, representation, right of appeal and a time-limited deprivation of their liberty.

This workshop is designed to equip health and social care staff with the skills and confidence to deliver high quality person-centred care that meets the diverse and holistic physiological, psychological, social and educational needs of individual service users in a way that safeguards and promotes the welfare of vulnerable adults.

The workshop will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework for mental capacity and deprivation of liberty and in doing so will help you safeguard and promote the welfare of vulnerable adults.
